To be totally honest I don’t agree with having a wardrobe of only basics *ALERT THE CAPSULE WARDROBE POLICE! The reason for that is because many like different things and have different styles. While some prefer printed silk shirts and blue jeans others may be fond of full floral skirts. For this reason I believe that you should tailor you capsule wardrobe for yourself. On the other hand if you are really struggling with your wardrobe here are some basics that are good for mixing and matching for the winter season.
1. Knitted jumper
We are spoiled for choice when it comes to knitwear but I’m partial to a thick cream cable knit. If you are a little more daring you could try a brightly coloured cable knit instead of neutral. It’s all about the structure when it comes to large knits. If unstructured it can look as if you are drowning in an endless amount of wool. Here are some options….
The same goes for trousers sometimes you can feel as if there are too many options for trousers so we just give up in a huff. A classic pair of black cropped trousers are a must have if you are going into the office or lunch with the girls. If you don’t feel like you are a black trouser kind of person how about a blue pair or even cream?
Winter boots have a special place in my heart. I have always loved a chunky pair of black boots. You can try a pair with a heel if you feel like you can manage the day without your feet feeling like they might fall off but if you are more like me and LOVE to be comfortable then why not try a flat pair.
Outerwear can totally change the look of an outfit. Whether you are more into a long or short coat this is the item you can play around with. If you are more into a neutral look then a pattered coat can really elevate your look. These are some recommendations from my Wishlist to your shopping basket.
